So the folks at Rabbit Press--that biannually released arts publication I'm sure many of you have heard a bit about by now--are hosting another of their epic release parties. And this time, rather than the soiree being hosted at Dirty Eye Warehouse, the Rabbit folks shall be shindiggin' at Cannery. Now I'll do that thing where I link to something else I wrote on this very topic:
The independently produced arts publication has a reputation for hosting memorable and well-attended events, and [Friday night's] celebration at Cannery Ballroom will feature performances from earnest and eccentric experimental popsters Darla Farmer, psychedelic punk trio Turbo Fruits, New Wave-influenced megagroup The Non-Commissioned Officers, pristine pop-rock four-piece The Silver Seas and introspective pop songstress Madi Diaz. There will also be visual art from Brandon Morgan, Kelly Bonnadies, Casey Pierce, David Hellams, Jordan Jaquess, Sara Estes and Alicia Waters and more, not to mention $2 Yazoo drafts, DJ sets from notorious debauchery-inspiring crew Electric Western and a new line of Rabbit Press merchandise.
Now, I've never given the Rabbit Press a look, but judging by the quality of their release parties and the commercial above--which features a song by those aforementioned eccentric experimental popsters Darla Farmer as well as some sort of magical box--I'm led to believe it's a quality publication. Yes? No? Either way, I've just read that there will allegedly be a drag show at this release party, and maybe, just maybe, I can talk Adam Gold into entering. Cover is $10. Friday night, Sept. 11, at Cannery Ballroom.
