In keeping with 2009's ongoing theme of the Mercy Lounge 8 off 8th transforming from simply a weekly series of great free shows to a weekly series of great free shows with intriguing concepts, here's yet another one we'd all be remiss to skip. Tonight at Mercy Lounge, The Lehning Brothers (a.k.a. members of The Non-Commissioned Officers and/or Eureka Gold and stars of Make-Out With Violence) present Rankin & Bass's The Hobbit. The Brothers Lehning along with members of Vermicious K'nids, Shoot the Mountain and more will be performing "a truncated version of the Hobbit, with all the original music from the 1977 cartoon." Other acts on the bill include:
Joshua Heckley
Natalie Prass
Garden Leo
Kintaro
Bird Cloud
Thesaurus Rex, featuring Big Sir
Intrigued yet? You sure as shit should be. But in case your interest isn't yet piqued, have a look at the opening sequence of The Hobbit below. And remember, this show is free. These performers seek not your dime--only your attention. The greatest adventure, my friends, is what lies ahead.
