Jack White Records With Keith Richards, Charlie Watts STILL a Rolling Stone

Anyone who knows the difference between a guitar and a bass--guitar=six strings, bass =four--knows that legendary Rolling Stones riff-king Keith Richards loves himself some blues pickin'. He was inspired by all the greats, Robert Johnson, Charley Patton, Leadbelly, Son House and now Jack White, as it was reported yesterday on RollingStone.com that Richards has just recorded songs with the Midas-touchy White Stripes guitarist. Richards told Rolling Stone, "I enjoy working with Jack... We've done a couple of tracks." When asked whether or not White would be tapped to produce the next Stones record, Richards that he "couldn't fuel that rumor any more than to say Jack and [him] are in touch."

Jack White has long since ingratiated himself with the rock 'n' roll elite. His participation alongside Jimmy Page and The Edge as one of the subjects in Davis Guggenheim's recent guitar doc It Might Get Loud further proves that he's a bona fide member of "the club." But potentially becoming a sixth--or fifth, considering the 20-year absence of Bill Wyman--Stone? That's some next-level shit. So, if you see Jack hanging out at Melrose Billiards be sure to congratulate him on a job well done.

In other Rolling Stones news: drummer Charlie Watts has NOT left the band. At least that's what Stones spokeswomen Fran Curtis said in response to a global media snafu caused by Australian music site Undercover. They cited a "source within the Stones inner-circle" in claiming that "Watts will never tour or record with the band again." Thank fucking God. Maybe I'm alone here, but I like seeing the dino-rock version of the Stones continuing to tour and sound loose despite 46 years of practice. Without Charlie that looseness dies. There is a crash cymbal above his head that only he and God know about and that status-quo MUST outlive us all.

drum nerd point: I bet the crash cymbal is actually that funky UFIP chinese cymbal he uses. That thing sounds so cool...

@Pancho: By "missed the memo" do you mean "missed the joke"?

I prefer Jack Johnson to Jack White. Where did all the hype over this guy come from, because his music is garbage.

@ Goldflop;
People like Bob Dylan, Keith Richards and Jimmy Page disagree with you. Maybe that's where the hype comes from. What kind of music don't you consider garbage?
