Beloved Cream contributor, local metal guru and master of lo-fi wizardry Matt Sullivan will soon be leaving us for the Great White North. Alaska, that is. But before he heads into the Last Frontier to "get all Jack London up in this motherfucker," his band will be playing a farewell show. Here are the deets for that, along with some other noteworthy affairs transpiring this evening:
German Castro Farewell Show feat. Kintaro & Phosphene at Springwater. German Castro, as Maloney puts it, are an agro-doom-noise duo.
Oblio CD Release feat. Ghostfinger & Sea of Cortez at The Basement. I gave the new CD a listen.
The Features w/Ascent of Everest at 527 Main Street in Murfreesboro.
Michael Jackson's Off the Wall at Mercy Lounge.
Dixie Whiskey CD Release at The 5 Spot.
Little Fish w/Fuck Show, The Zut Alors & Jenny Wood at The End.
Infected Mushroom at Exit/In.
Twelve Against Nature: A Steely Dan Experience at Third & Lindsley. "If vinegar could sing," writes Jack Silverman, "it would sound like Donald Fagen." Makes me want to watch this video of Bill Cosby introducing the Dan on The Midnight Special.
Skee-Lo w/Mike's Pawn Shop, Sarah Silva, Enjoy the Zoo & DJ Toddorsio at 12th & Porter. Yes, it's that Skee-Lo. The "wish I was a baller" guy.
38 Special is playing at the Wildhorse.
Rest of the listings are here, and feel free to lambast us for leaving out your band's house show. Corrections go in the comments section. Have a great weekend.
