As many of you have already heard, local rock musician, fan and Spat! Records label head Stacy Fleeman passed away on Sunday, August 23, after being found unresponsive last week. He was 33.
Even if you didn't know Stacy personally, you likely saw him working the door at The End, as he did most nights. The last time I saw him, he was at his familiar post, smoking cigarettes and holding court outside the club's entrance as friends, acquaintances and strangers came and went throughout the evening.
There will be a remembrance in this week's print edition of the Scene, though I've received so many responses there won't be room for anywhere near all of them.
A memorial service will be held this Thursday at 8 p.m., at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home in Stacy's hometown of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. There will be a receiving of friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This has been one of the hardest weeks for me I'm having a real hard time with this!
Stacy was my friend!!!!! One of the very few real ones I have here in this town.He always made me happy!!! Anytime I would go out to a show or just out on my way home I would always stop by the end to visit with him to tell him about the show or just to talk and hang out.I didn't even care who was playing most of the time I just wanted go and hang out with Stacy,I always felt welcome. There were also the times I would not have such a great night so I would stop by the end to see Stacy and he would always and I mean ALWAYS make me smile and feel better! it seemed like he was always working so I always felt like there was a place I could go.He had a great smile and always seemed equally as happy to see me. I never felt weird around him just comfortable and at ease. Now I feel somewhat lost now that my friend is gone. There will never be a person like Stacy and I will miss him!!!!!
Rest in peace my dear friend!!!!!!!!
I've known Stacy since I was a kid. We shared in some high school idiocy together and I'm so glad I happened to bump into him a couple of nights before this happened at The Gold Rush. It was good to see him one last time. Truly a nice guy that I'm certain will be missed by many friends.

I went to high school with Stacy and he was always a good friend and one of the most creative people that I knew. We'd just sit in his room sometimes, me and Stacy and Val and talk crazy shit that we'd make up (mostly me and him: Val would go along for the ride). But what stands out most is the great vacation that he took with me and a friend down to Orlando to stay at a friend's place and take in some of what the area had to offer. We went to Typhoon Lagoon at Disney (I was 17 and he was 16) and got all messed up and he'd scream "COW PUSSY!!!" before jumping from whatever faux cliff he could find into the water below. He loved coming up with absurd little nonsensical (and always somewhat offensive) phrases like that and yell them out just to get a rise out of people. Then he trashed the free room where he was staying at my friend's and I got my ass chewed for that. I miss him.
RIP Stacy....you truly helped make Nashville a better place.
rip stacy. ill miss getting drunk outside the end with you. i've never laughed harder at some of the jokes and pranks you would play. thanks for keeping me from getting stabbed at the summer pop off. you were one the kindest people i've met in nashville. you may be gone but your name will forever live on. it is hard to believe this is actually real.
