For One Brief Moment the Belle Meade Kroger Was the Coolest Place on Earth. Maybe.

Can you name this grocery store that was, for at least a few moments, the coolest place on Earth? I'm guessing it's the Belle Meade Kroger, since we know that Nas and The Beastie Boys were shooting a video around Centennial Park back in June. I'm gonna guess that they just drove down West End cuz they've got valet parking (at a grocery store WTF?!?) and I assume that the odds of somebody recognizing Nasty Nas and the Beasties in the heart of whiteness are slim to none.

If they had gone to the Kroger at the corner of Paragon Mills and Nolensville that shit would have been a small scale riot--a logistical hassle to say the least. I'm assuming that four middle-aged men rapping in the produce section was just met with blank stares in Belle Meade. Who knows though, as all we've got are an unmastered leak of "Too Many Rappers" and a still photo--it could be in Hermitage, it could be in Hendersonville. Frankly, I can't tell one grocery store from the next. If you've got any info, leave it in the comments or email cream[at]nashvillescene.com

The produce section at the Belle Meade Kroger is laid out differently than the above picture. Looks like a Publix to me, particularly the new one that opened up on Harding Pike, a block or two away from the Kroger.

Yeah, that's definitely not the Belle Meade Kroger.

Makes sense. And since that publix is so new, it may not have been open yet when they took the pic in there. But Maloney's observations about the Belle Meade Kroger demographic are dead-on.
I have seen Jake Orrall in there a couple times though.

Looks like the Green Hills Kroger. The produce section is in the front-left corner of the store, and they've remodeled to something that looks similar to that pic.

Right on, Eric. I'm 98% sure that's the Green Hills Kroger. The produce section at the Harding Publix is waaaay smaller than this and it's not laid out the same.

Couldn't tell ya who took the picture. I'm assuming it was leaked by whomever leaked the song.

I went to the Basement for their Metallica-esque road to Bonnaroo show that was all myth. Should have gone to the supermarket instead.

I am voting against it being the GH Kroger, it is close but the produce section is a bit different, sad that I know that but...

Yeah, Green Hills. That's the best section of the best store to scout for hot dads.

There's more than just "an unmastered leak" of "Too Many Rappers." The song was officially released on vinyl and digitally on July 21.
