We've blogged before about the equal-parts hilarious and genuinely captivating music (and T-shirt designs) of local phenom Jonny Corndawg. At Little Hamilton this Sunday, Aug. 16, a filmmaker by the name of Shawn Kornhauser will screen a "portrait documentary" that covers the past decade of the Dawg's life and career. The above commercial featuring Jonny Corndawg was shot by Kornhauser; and trust me, you're going to want to watch that.
In addition to A Portrait of the Dawg--that's not its actual title, I'm guessing; just one that I think sounds great--Kornhauser will also screen a 20-minute film about "harsh-noise/hip-hop musician Rob Fransisco," which is allegedly made up of live footage from "Sweaty basements and heat-box warehouses," not to mention some "enigmatic interview clips." Following the screening, philosopher and founder of the Philadelphia Institute for Advanced Study Brandon Joyce will read from some of his essays, the topics of which include "life games, sexual desire, new ideas in corporate marketing" and more. Sounds like Sunday is to be an erudite, cerebral evening at Little Hammy. Donations are requested for admission, and it starts at 9 p.m.
