Rock posters. You love them. I love them. They are good.
Thursday, Sept. 3, The Belcourt will be screening Died Young Stayed Pretty, the documentary about rock posters, the people who make them, and the subculture surrounding them. Did you know that octopi are totally passe poster material? Or that nerdy dudes like to screenprint girls with huge tits? Or that rock poster makers "make up an army of bareknuckle brawlers, publicly arguing the aesthetic merits of octopus imagery and hairy 70s porn stars"?
Local printmeister Bryce McCloud of Isle of Printing designed the film poster to the right. You've seen his stuff around town, whether you know it or not.) Director Eileen Yaghoobian will be in attendance.
One night only!
As for rock posters, I have managed to lose, damage or destroy many over the years. This is why I can't have nice things. You've got some favorites, don't you?

poor eileen was tortured and forced to deal with us poster goons for a couple of years. i hope her vision pays off. I destroyed a bowling alley managers office in the attempt to make a otherwise boring interview interesting. i'm sure it will never see the light of day. we were all drunk and snarky.
Hey Steve,
Actually, the director Eileen Yaghoobian will be in attendance at the Belcourt. She's currently touring with the film. Bryce knows about it, though. I hope he comes down too!
