Even if you don't know Hunter Brice's name, you've probably seen his work around town, particularly if you frequent the Mercy Lounge, where his paintings often grace the walls. The Nashville artist and photographer has been suffering from a slew of debilitating health problems recently, so a group of his friends have, um, banded together to put on a benefit to help with his accumulating medical bills.

Not only does the night feature a hard-rockin', soul-stirrin', honky-tonkin' lineup that includes Les Honky More Tonkies, Mike Younger and the Marksmen, Eric Lee Beddingfield, Jonell Mosser, Robert Leath and The Soul Reputations, but three of those acts will feature a special guest guitarist: none other than the man himself, the guy with the most totally awesomest name in all of Nashville, Mercy Lounge co-owner Chark Kinsolving.

And there's a silent auction featuring local rock memorabilia, Hatch Show Print and Mercy Lounge concert posters, autographed CDs and instruments, Chark's very own (and very cool) 1959 Silvertone guitar and matching amp, and best of all, some artworks by Brice himself.

All for a mere $7 suggested donation. (More will gladly be accepted.)

Hunter Brice's bio from the Mercy Lounge website, after the jump:

Born in Dallas, Texas, Hunter Brice has had an extensive career in photography and art. His ventures began in the '70s as a fashion photographer. His work gave him the opportunity to travel to New York, Mexico, London, Paris and throughout the Caribbean. He moved to Puerto Rico in the mid-'80s, where he began painting. Combining his skills in design and people, he seems to have captured the essence of the Caribbean world. He has shown in Puerto Rico, New Orleans, Dallas and Memphis. After living in New Orleans for a number of years, he now has made Nashville his home. His African-American subjects have been widely recognized as a cultural commentary of the diversity of Caribbean people, as well as of the culture of New Orleans.
