The above video for The Nobility's "Gentle Giant" was directed by Brian Wilson. Presumably, obviously, not that Brian Wilson. But a Brian Wilson. The Nobility have a three-song single, also titled Gentle Giant, and their release show is this Friday, Aug. 14, at The Basement. From the forthcoming Critic's Pick by yours truly:
The three literate, concisely arranged songs on their brand-new digital release Gentle Giant are dripping with influences from The Kinks to Simon & Garfunkel. What's more, Gentle Giant is available in a myriad of formats--FLAC, AAC, Lossless and MP3--further demonstrating not only their diligence, but also their understanding of the obsession that plagues serious listeners of rock 'n' roll.
According to The Nobility, "the first chance to purchase the single will be through download cards for sale only at this Aug. 14 show. Digital downloads will be available after Aug. 14 through most digital retailers. All three songs are currently streaming in their entirety at [The Nobility's Bandcamp page]." Now, enjoy the vaguely familiar, highly stylized, one-shot music video embedded above. It's kind of a PSA of sorts. Remember to thank The Nobility the next time you save your friend from choking on a tennis ball.

I made it about one second into the video.
Note to indie rock bands: I'm boycotting hand claps.
Cut it out. It's well beyond cliched to do the indie rock handclaps in this day and age.
If you handclap in song, chances are I will stop listening. If you handclap in concert, there's a very good chance I will walk out of the venue. I've done it before. I will do it again.
I found that enjoyable:) Glenn is just and a-hole Nobility, don't listen to him.
i kinda like wes anderson. like when he made this into a movie about 10 years ago.
rip-off.
who did these guys pay to get this post ?
I second Timmons. Handclaps are a-okay with me. As are maraccas, especially within the context of a Glossary jam.
