National Skyline MTV Video Music Awards: Taylor Swift, Kings of Leon, Paramore Nominated

Well, MTV announced the VMA nominees yesterday, and you can take the fact that Lady Gaga got nominated nine (9) times as a sign that these awards are nothing more than a trashy parade of trashy bullshit. Or you could not think that. (But seriously: Asher Roth? Seriously.)
Anyhoo, if host Russell Brand isn't enough to make you tune in, then maybe root-root-rooting for the home team will. Nashville represents with three artists* in the mix for a moonman:
Taylor Swift, "You Belong With Me" (Best Female Video)
Kings of Leon, "Use Somebody" (Best Rock Video)
Paramore, "Decode" (Best Rock Video)
Swift will also be performing, and I have this feeling KOL or P-Mo will get added, too. But it's just a hunch. I just hope they invite Jill Sobule. (They won't.).

Paramore, "Decode": Not sure why this is up for Best Rock Video, since it's mostly just them playing in Percy Warner Park or whatever, intercut with footage from Twilight. Oh yeah, that movie was huge, right? Not that there's anything wrong with that, but still.
Kings of Leon, "Use Somebody": KOL won't let me embed their video, but if you watch it, maybe you'll think it was one of the Best Rock Videos of the year. I wasn't that impressed--just seemed like some concert footage cut with broody-face lip-syncing--but you do you get to see Caleb in his undies, so that's something, I guess.
Taylor Swift, "You Belong With Me": OK, now here's a video! I mean, it's got storytelling and stuff--characters, setting, a central conflict, a climax, a denouement and formal wear. Not to mention the true hallmark of a great music video, hand-written signs.
The VMAs air Sept. 13.
*If you want to include Chairlift because their drummer is from Franklin or whatever, go ahead and make that four. They're up for Breakthrough Video, along with those whippersnappers Death Cab for Cutie.

Don't see how you can put down a Paramore video because it doesn't have whores running around and guys thowing money (is that what makes a video or artist good?). Plus, doesn't the 'best' mean that its popular? Twilight's popular, so doesn't that lead to the Decode music video being one of the best?
Just putting that out there.
