The folks over at 102.9 the BUZZ must have been well aware that it's '90s week here at the Cream because they just sent over the lineup for BUZZFEST '09, and boy is it active-rock-tastic. Appearing on the bill are Alice in Chains (yes, they have a new singer), Mudvayne, Chevelle, Cage the Elephant, Cavo, Framing Hanley and The Everything That Rocks Band. Just to clarify, The Everything That Rocks Band IS NOT the same Band who recorded Music From Big Pink. I'd make fun of Framing Hanley, but I remembered that they're from Sumner County and they've probably suffered enough. According to BUZZ program director Troy Hanson:

This year's lineup for BUZZFEST looks to be our strongest yet, and we are most pleased to be once again bringing our marquee event to downtown Nashville's Riverfront. Plus, we've got a few surprises in store for Music City once again this year.

This little 'palooza is going down at Riverfront Park on Sept. 11 and tickets are $29 for general admission, $129 for VIP and--for a limited time--you can buy a four-pack for $99. I think for $1,029 your ticket should come with some of Layne Staley's ashes. To purchase tickets log on to 1029thebuzz.com or ticketmaster. Also, feel free to call the BUZZ request line at 615-737-1029 to let them know that if you hear Cage the Elephant one more time you're gonna rip your own fucking ears off and that you wanna hear more JEFF the Brotherhood and The Mattoid. JK!

In related news: Staind will be opening for Creed when they make their "triumphant" return to Nashville at the Sommet Center Oct. 14.
