Starlume!

What, you've never heard of Starlume? They're only the winners of this year's Toast of Music City contest for Best Local Band! How does that taste, bands that didn't win? If you haven't checked Starlume out yet at a show they played at a venue, maybe you should, because they're a band made up of four guys making music in Nashville.

Anyway, even if you're not all up into some Starlume already, I'm sure you know about Baby Blue & The No Attitude Band (second place) and last year's men, Randy Moore and the Fabulous Suedes (third place).

How about choosing a band that people have heard of... or at least one that's actually good.

ummm.... hilarious, never heard of any of them and I go out to and play shows regularly. I'm probably not in the cool crowd or anything myself, but that is hilarious.
Do they ever play in Nashville?

Seriously, did Alan Jackson's people stuff the ballot box? Best Local Celeb, Best Dressed (in which the sartorially superior Crook and Chase finished third - what a travesty) AND Most Successful (over Martha Ingram)?

Sometimes winning is a bad thing.

a great deal of the bands on the ballot aren't even around anymore.
and i believe, again, Best Buy was nominated for best record store... that, my friends, is 'nuff said.

The Cream is jealous because they were too busy surfing the web for Those Darlins articles to actually vote for them.

wow. Toast of Music Shitty...I mean "City." Those bands are currentlyon a 4-day coke binge in celebration of their daunting feat. They have made it, guys. Next week they will be playing a showcase at The Rutledge where they will be signed to a deal worth millions and in two weeks they will be No. 1 on TRL. Way to go. And it's all thanks to Toast of Music City. They got that Oprah Book-Club power goin on.

I think they are a great band. They are actually doing a cd release party this Thursday night Aug. 6th at the mercy lounge. Starts at 9pm.
If you haven't heard them here's your chance.

I think it is a joke that someone we have never heard of won. Last year at least a great band got No. 1 - Randy Moore and the Fabulous Suedes. They are absolutely great and the best entertainers I have ever heard -bar none!!
