All We Seabees Call It Folkin' Quits [Updated]

Yesterday evening, Hammertorch debuted their new record Lions Don't Cry--the one with "Cemetery Dance" on it--and I happened to catch their release show at The 5 Spot. There I ran into a couple of the young men from All We Seabees, who brought me some unfortunate news: Due to issues of intra-band geographical relocation, All We Seabees will be calling it quits in a matter of weeks. Bummer. Allow me to direct your attention to a profile written by our very own Steve Haruch on the Seabees' 2008 release, MKultra.

Luckily, if you haven't caught All We Seabees live and you missed Hammertorch's release last night, you have the rare opportunity to right two wrongs in one evening: The 'Torch will be playing a second release show for Lions Don't Cry at Wall Street in Murfreesboro Aug. 1, and the 'Bees will be on the bill. And according to our source, the Seabees will play a final, blowout farewell show at some point in September. See them at least once. Moment of silence and a tip of the 40 for yet another talented Middle Tennessean band movin' on down the road.

UPDATE:

Just spoke with a Seabee who wanted it to be officially known that this announcement is entirely unofficial. Purely hearsay. Regardless of the reliability of the source, still hearsay. This means there's still hope for All We Seabees, and that's a good thing. Check out their show Aug. 1 either way.

The Hammertorch show last night was killer! They are definitely a local band to watch out for in 09.
Also, thanks to the Alcohol Stuntband for being predictably awesome. I seriously can't get "Dickerson Pike" outta my head this morning.
"It's Loratab and Natural Light...on Dickerson Pike....at night! And I know that's right"

Okay... so why is not one talking about the Hotpipes' breakup? Figured that would be a bigger deal.

Good question S&J. It totally is a big deal. But when we got the word that Justin (bass) was moving to Kentucky and that Hotpipes were calling it quits, the band asked us to hold off on reporting it just in case they decided to play a farewell show or get some final recording done. By the time it became apparent that a farewell show wasn't likely, it wasn't really news anymore.
Which brings me to this: If your band is breaking up or switching members or releasing an album or giving something away for free, let us know! The reason we post things like this is so people will get out and come to your show before it's too late. Also, make sure everyone in your band is cool with sharing the news. Otherwise, things get obfuscated and no one ends up coming to your last gig ever.

How do unofficial breakups work?

Certain dumbasses get drunk at shows and talk too much.

major bummer about the Seabees if it is true... I hope it isn't. I am Justin from Hotpipes. D. Patrick is absolutely right, it really isn't newsworthy. There isn't really much to say about our split other than it was very amicable and we are all still close. It was sort of a mutual parting of ways, very boring really. My wife and I will really miss Nashville and all of our great friends.
