While many, many (most?) of you will be at Mercy Lounge tonight for the incredibly fun and very much free 1970s 8 off 8th that the Cream is sponsoring where, in addition to hearing a bunch of great songs you could sign up to win stuff, like a guitar, for instance, some of you will not. And that's cool, I guess.
Twist Art Gallery (located upstairs in the Arcade) will play host to an improvisational set by Eli Keszler and Ashley Paul at 8 p.m. (You could conceivably catch this show and still make it to Mercy.) We are told this show will begin promptly, so....
...folks can make it over to The Basement for Fringe Music Night. (Different kind of fringe from the kind people liked to wear in the 1970s.) That show will feature Dead Snake, Sic Temper Tyrannis (members of 84001 and Ancient Ocean), Cavalcade feat. Dave Cloud and Lylas. (Occult Activity on Campus is not playing this show. Don't know where you read that.) Show starts at 9 p.m. and will cost you $5.
If that's too improvisational or fringe-y for you, Chris Crofton and the Alcohol Stuntband are playing at The End tonight w/The Bohannons and a fairly ass-kicking U.K. band called The High Plane Drifters, whose new shit is of the rippin' variety (GBV in space-jam with the Velvets, maybe). That's at rock o'clock on the rock o'block. Any other night, that's probably where I'd be.
