It saddens us to announce that Terry Price of local rock trio Oblio was recently diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. In order to help cover his medical expenses, Grimey and Oblio are hosting a benefit at Mercy Lounge on July 2 in which dozens of local artists will be covering the music of Harry Nilsson. (Nilsson Schmilsson and The Point are of great personal significance to me, since I've kept them both in heavy rotation since they first blew my mind some years ago. Just, you know, for the record.)

In case you aren't familiar with the Oblio-Nilsson connection, Oblio derives their name from the bluntly-craniumed lead character in 1971's The Point--which was also an animated feature of the same name. Among those covering Nilsson will be The Features, Eureka Gold, David Mead, Heypenny, Oblio themselves and a supergroup featuring Grimey, Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket, Hotpipes' Jon Rogers and Marc Pisapia (rumors were afloat that Brendan Benson might also be a part of the group, though we can't confirm that). Ten bucks is the recommended donation. Now let's watch one of my favorite sequences from The Point. The quality's a bit rough, but it's worth it. Trust.
