We've just been passed word that new tickets to Eddie "Mumble Mumble" Vedder at the Ryman tonight and tomorrow night have been made available. I'm not exactly sure what that means aside from the fact that it was sold out (I'm pretty sure) and now it's not. Dustin Allen wrote a wonderfully bittersweet Critic's Pick for the Vedder shows, and I'd like to share it with you:
Eddie Vedder has always ridden the fence between reticent rock icon and anti-commercial advocate. His recent stag efforts behind the Into the Wild soundtrack and Pearl Jam's DIY marketing scheme for their upcoming studio album--which sees the band label-less for the first time since their inception--may have the thick air of indie credibility. But now that he's on the third leg of the tour, milking fans for admission prices on par with anything Ticketmaster had him fighting a decade ago--with even an extended two-night stay at the Ryman due to a quick sell-out of the original show--Vedder just keeps munching away at the fatally toxic wild herb again and again, so to speak. He may be a brilliant vocalist with a bloated canon of generation-defining music, but with such a bitter taste in your mouth, it's a little hard to swallow.
Well put, no? Go here to purchase newly available tickets to tonight's (June 17) show. Go here for tickets to tomorrow's (June 18).
