Cream Calendar Fresh Track: Patterson Hood, "I Understand Now" [MP3]

Primary Drive-By Trucker and dusty, shaggy, Southern, rag-tag, alt-country champ Patterson Hood--or, as Gold calls him, Patty-Ho--is touring in support of his forthcoming record Murdering Oscar (and Other Love Songs). The record's out June 23, and he'll be playing with his band the Screwtopians at Grimey's at 6 p.m. tomorrow, then Mercy Lounge at the usual hour. His people have sent along a track from the record for your downloading pleasure, and it's, you know, twangy and wry and totally Patterson Hood-y. Check:
I imagine there will be some crossover DBT fans present for both of Hood's sets, meaning you can expect some bros to be on the "edge of tears and/or fainting like teenage girls at a Back Street Boys concert circa 1998."

I'm def. not a fan either. But as far as twangy, bluesy Southern rock goes, it certainly gets much worse. Pretty harmless.
