No album releases tonight. With such a glut of sincerely awesome shows yesterday, it stands to reason that Saturday night would be just slightly less exciting. But here's some stuff nonetheless:
Coldplay w/Snow Patrol & Howling Bells at Sommet Center. I used to listen to Parachutes a whole bunch. See? Also, Snow Patrol's doing a Grimey's in-store at 2 p.m.
Across Tundras w/I Am the Tower, Eyeball & Black Smokestack at The End.
Walter Egan w/And Then There Were Two, The Grampyres & The Walternative Band at The 5 Spot. Plus, I heard tell that Chris Crofton and the Alcohol Stuntband will be playing a free set at midnight. It will be a "we'd better get one more practice in before we go on tour and try to play New York and shit" kind of show. Allegedly.
The Outlaw Lovers w/Sexpipe at Springwater. According to SPGWTR's MySpace, some "very special guests" will also be on the bill. I'm intrigued.
Gail Davies w/Chris Scruggs at Station Inn.
Realicide w/Dark Castle, Sanctions, My Left Uterus & Zosimos at Little Hamilton.
Blue Mountain w/Justin and the Cosmics & Pete Molinari at The Basement.
If you'd like to peruse all of the listings, be my guest; and let us know if you're hip to something phenomenal. Also, for those of you unable to attend Bonnaroo next weekend, fret not! I just received an email informing me that Twiggy will be performing at Nashville Shores. Twiggy the water-skiing squirrel, that is. I'm not kidding at all.
And Sunday: Ancient Ocean, Prussia & Ttotals (formerly Heathern Haints) at Skyhouse. Consult Ancient Ocean's MySpace for the address. Plus, Week Three of Rock 'n' Roll Trivia at Mercy Lounge. 8 p.m. Maloney's back...prepare to get ruled! That's all I've got. Happy weekend.

With Maloney back, I'm sure the "Cream Team" (whatever moniker they choose this week) will be tough to beat at Sunday night trivia. Since we've doubled the prizes ($100 1st, $50 2nd, $20 3rd), I am publicly challenging Movement Nashville to put together a dream team to compete with them. In fact, I'll throw that out to the Deli & WRLT as well. Remember your team can be as big or as small as you like.
Our goal every week is merely to confound Gold, Maloney, et al. Come down Sunday night and help us out.
The band at Springwater playing with Sexpipe and Outlaw Lovers is actually called Very Special Guest.
Haha! Very Special Guest. Actual band name recognition fail by me.
I wonder if the Walter Egan show portends a Fleetwood Mac cameo? I always find myself interchanging lyrics between "Magnet + Steel" and "Right Down the Line" by Gerry Rafferty.
