So you know how YLT pulled a flip-flop of their usual recording process? They typically record here and mix in New York, but this time they did it the other way around, tracking in the Big Apple and mixing in Nashville with Roger Moutenot. Moutenot is the badass known for his work with Sleater Kinney, Elvis Costello, Lambchop, Lou Reed, Rosanne Cash, Gillian Welch and countless others.
Popular Songs will be out Sept. 8 (via Matador, of course), and we've got a sneak peek below. "Periodically Double or Triple" has a definite "Taxman" vibe, with some wonderfully funky organ parts and cool-customer vocals to boot. Give her a listen:
