It's true. In just 137 days, Kings of Leon will play the Sommet Center. That's quite a step up, capacity-wise, from Municipal Auditorium, where the Bros. Followill last entertained a Nashville audience (with their music) last November.

No word yet on an opener, though I'm going to go ahead and nominate Screaming Females, just for the hell of it. The show will be all ages and is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $36-$46 and go on sale Saturday, June 20.

Maybe they should just do a five hour show just playing the same song over and over since all their shit sounds the same anyway.Could these numbnuts really do an arena tour. What a sad world when a lot of people actually listen to shit like this!!!!

ned's autonomic lustpin. . . . .
consider what kind of bands were filling arenas 10 years ago and be grateful.

jesus. . .even 4 or 5 years ago. . . I happen to think that kings of leon have managed to make a few really great creative pop records. . . I probably won't spend my money on a ticket, but have to applaud them in their success and growth over the past several years.

I heard (started) a totally unconfirmed rumor that The Features were opening.

Yah, but doesn't it suck having to compare everything to total crap of the past to make boring crap of the present sound a little better?
I hear good bands used to play arenas back before I was born.

Cato's right. Just because it isn't as egregiously terrible as, say, a pop diva or two who might have been at arenas a decade back, that doesn't mean it isn't still uninspired, boring and/or lame.
Oh hey Cato, did you know we have a chicken coop in our back yard now? We're getting chickens. True story.

the argument i'm making is not that anyone should or should not like this band. . . but that things are changing for the better in terms of what audiences are willing to, and wanting to hear.

Sorry ryan, this shit is lame! The 70's and 80's were a decent decade for Arena music, until the later hairmetalpop ballad years. You had Devo playing areanas back then dude.
I have to disagree about this changing things for the better. This stuff should be played on Dalylas show if it isn't already. There's nothing prgressive about it at all.

Arenas? Well, okay. The Cure played arenas. Depeche played arenas - still does. And there was a huge Echo/New Order/Gene Loves Jezebel tour, IIRC.

jeeeeeeeeeeesus!!!!! read what i'm saying throughout the post before commenting. the 60's through the early 90's were great. . .I'm talking specifically about the previous 10 years of pop music. . . . . all i'm saying is that ten years ago EVEN this band would have been too smart to be this big. . . .
