June is nearly upon us. I have to say I'm extremely grateful for my stock photos of Gold's face, because otherwise these styles might be significantly more difficult to concoct and substantially less entertaining. For me, anyway. Here are some of tonight's shows:

Turbo Fruits 7-inch Release feat. The Tits & Bad Cop at The End. Fat Possum's putting the record out, and it's called Mama's Mad Cos I Fried My Brain. Tell me about it, Fruits. The Internet tells me there's going to be an afterparty at an undisclosed location to be DJed by Ben Swank & Ben Blackwell of Third Man Records.

Hotpipes w/Prabir and the Substitutes at The Basement. Prabir and the Subs are from Virginia, and they make music that's like a time capsule of pop.

The Paper Hats (William Tyler's latest project) w/Eric Carbonara, Kelli Shay Hix & The Cherry Blossoms at Little Hamilton. That's a hell of a little show there. Haven't heard any Paper Hats stuff yet, but Willy T. (who plays/played with Cortney Tidwell, Silver Jews, Lambchop, Character and even Superdrag at one point) never fails to melt my brain with his skillful lickage.

Chuck Meade at The 5 Spot. He's doing his CD release tomorrow night at The Basement, so I hope he doesn't blow his load. Don't blow your load, Chuck! Chuck's my neighbor.

Luna Halo w/The Effects & Modoc at Mercy Lounge. If you're into that sort of thing.

Jason White w/Swan Dive at Third & Lindsley.

Then you've got The Nashville Bluegrass Band at Station Inn, something called Localpalooza at The Rutledge and Wrong Way (a Sublime tribute band) at Exit/In. I'm sorry, but--considering all the options tonight--if you go to Exit/In, you might just be living your life the wrong way. I'm only kidding. Back tomorrow with Saturday night's jams.

The Cherry Blossoms will be playing at Little Hamilton, not the Cherry Bombs. Isn't that the band Lea Thompson fronted in Howard the Duck?

Haha, I knew that sounded wrong. Copied and pasted it straight from the listing. It's been corrected. And yes, that is the Howard the Duck/Lea Thompson band. Good call.

Here's the scoop from Don Gaylord, "I just got a call from Wade, one of the new owners at the Hall of Fame Lounge. It appears that there is no entertainment for tonight and he asked if I would put out a general invite for folks to come on by and play a few songs. So if you can make it, please come on down and check out the GREATLY IMPROVED Hall of Fame Lounge. Thanks and I hope to see you there."
