This nugget--the Joey Ciccoline-directed video for Heypenny's "CopCar"--is brand new and was just submitted to the Cream by the band themselves. The video looks great and takes a page or five from the MTV2 playbook--stop motion, robot suits, robot choreography, screens within screens, dudes in drag a la Foo Fighters' "Everlong," construction paper animation a la Modest Mouse's "Float On," fake mustaches a la Beastie Boys' "Sabatoge" and game show shenanigans a la The Strokes' "Someday." The band will appear tonight as part of the final installment of Mercy Lounge and BMI's "Road to Bonnaroo" series. Tommy and the Whale fans are thrilled!
Also thrilled will be all you general enthusiasts of Nashville cop cars as--in keeping with the Johnny Law nuggets theme--I've decided to include this hilariously depressing (or depressingly hilarious) video (year unknown) taken from a Nashville-filmed episode of Cops. It shows an excitable prostitute resisting arrest on Murfreesboro Road. This is one of those dude calls cops, accuses prostitutes of robbing him, prostitute tells cops dude solicited a "date," all parties involved end up jail scenarios. Everyone loses. We win! Take a look after the jump.
