According to the Mercy Lounge's Drew Mischke, he--along with Out the Other's Janet Timmons and with help from renaissance man Dave Paulson and the Cream's own Ashley Spurgeon--will be launching a weekly rock 'n' roll trivia night to go down every Sunday at the Cannery Row haunt. Trivia--which will feature a rotating cast of local luminary hosts--will be done in teams and be conducted in four rounds. Categories include: Boring Technical Stuff, Top 40, Name That Tune, Lost Lyrics, Album Artwork, et cetera. The first-place winners will get $50 off their collective bar tab, second place winners $25 off, and third place $10 off. There will be some sort of (at this time undetermined) beer special available as well. According to Mischke, the event will "not just be for music nerds." The weekly event, which, barring any sort of force majeure, kicks off May 24 and will be followed by a weekly "Rock 'n' Roll Movie Night" (starting May 31). It'll also be free and will commence at 8 p.m. Sounds like fun! I'll probably be a regular at this, so if you want to make me a softer competitor, feel free to smoke me out by the train tracks at 7:30 on the weekly.
