Rocketown Not Disappearing--Just Moving

We posted about the possibility of Rocketown getting bulldozed to make way for a convention center, which made it seem like the all-ages venue and skate park would be sleeping with the fishes. Not so, says venue director Ben Cissell, who said via email that they've been scouting new locations, including one on Fourth Avenue.

"We are going to relocate," Cissell wrote. "We are very excited about this and plan to drastically improve what we do. We will have a larger nicer venue, and a much better skate shop. We will also have a place to park."

Rocketown sucks. I hope they set it on fire.

You don't have to like it, that's your preference, but it's another place for the kids to go without getting hasseled and thats much needed in this City.
I'd even go so far to say that's a pretty cool place and not nearly as religous stuffy as I would have thought. It's also not the Much, but I can't figure out if that's a positive or negative.

Oops - Meant to the MUSE, not the Much.
The Much does suck.

I had no doubt they would find a place to relocate. They have money because the kids' rich parents support it.

Not a fan, but I'm hoping they take over the racetrack at the fairgrounds. Now that would make for one hell of a skate park.

Gross as it can be, the Muse has charm. Maybe that's teenage punk rock nostalgia talking, but I have an indescribable fondness for the place. Rocketown just isn't grimey enough for the bands that they book. It never quite feels right when they have a band like Tiger Army on stage below and a pleasant little coffee bar and singer-songwriters up top.
But, at the same time, I can acknowledge that the sound is terrible at The Muse and parking always turns into a game of "is it worth getting towed by the jerks around the corner to see this band play in this dump?".
I really liked the record store they were running out of the back during 2004 though, I bought lots of cool records back then for reasonable prices.

Dude, I was there the night Lucy's closed. Good times.
Next Gen was my favorite, though.

you guys suck to say that rocketown is bad. rocketown is a home for us teens. most of us arent "rich kids." most of my friends there live in the projects. thats not very rich.

I like Rcktwn...been there over ten times so far and counting. I love that it's kind of small and how a lot of the bands come out afterward to where you can meet them/get pictures, etc. It sucks being super freaking short and almost always being behind super tall people, but it's still fun.
Ahh, i thought they were moving to somewhere around the Brentwood area? Pretty sure that's what my dad said. It would be closer and I could actually drive there myself. I hate the way the roads are in Nashville..all the one-way roads and weird intersections. So either my sister either drives [well, when she goes with me] or my parents take me...even though I am 19...lol.
