You may have seen some news coverage on the return of layaway during these can't-afford-shit-right-now-but-I-still-want-it-anyway economic times. You instantly picture the layaway of yore (apparently called lay-by in Australia and the UK?), where financially struggling folks waited it out at that counter in the back of the department for stuff like furniture and TVs. But apparently even big music festivals are getting in on it.
Eighteen percent of Coachella attendees bought their tickets on a payment plan, according to a piece in the Times, and it's not hard to see why when you consider the whopping $269 weekend ticket price. Turns out, Bonnaroo is offering a similar payment plan for their only slightly cheaper $249.50 ticket prices.
It's kinda late in the game for Bonnaroo ticket purchases, so if you buy now you only get a three-payment installment option:
For tickets purchased between Saturday, April 4, 2009, and Friday, May 1, 2009:Payment 1 $190.90 including all fees DATE OF PURCHASE
Payment 2 $50.00 Tue., May 5, 2009
Payment 3 $50.00 Tue., May 19, 2009
That's cool, but you will end up paying more money--$28.90 more per ticket for fees. So how 'bout just lowering the ticket price? Just a thought. Let it marinate.
