Tonight at Mercy Lounge, one more band can punch their ticket to Bonnaroo by winning the popular vote at 8 off 8th. It's the second of three battles to mount the stage at Manchester. As we've told you before, here's the deal: We all go to Mercy Lounge on Monday night like we always do. Everyone gets a ballot. The bands play, and votes are collected at the end of the night after all the bands have gone on (so you have to stay for everyone in order for your vote to count). Fan voting accounts for half the deciding power. The other half comes from a panel of local music writers, bloggers and 8 off 8th hosts. The winner of each night's voting gets to play Bonnaroo.

Tonight's contestants are, in this order:

Mike's Pawn Shop

Reno Bo

KS Rhoads

And the Relatives

Pico Vs. Island Trees

AutoVaughn

How I Became the Bomb

The Protomen

As you'll recall, The Features won their Bonnaroo slot by a single vote, so that ought to tell you something. The show is free, and starts at 9 p.m.

Update: According to the folks at Mercy Lounge, "We're going to relax the requirements for fan voting a bit because of the complaints from the last event."

I got a myspace bulletin saying that Bad Friend will also be playing, despite the fact that they're not listed anywhere. Hope that's true, but I plan on being there anyway.
