wish yall wouldn't give up these secrets so overtly but I understand.
Well, it's not really a "secret" because no one knows if it's going to happen. Here's what Grimey's has to say about it:
"Their roadies' band Stardeath and White Dwarves are playing at 12:45. But not sure whether Wayne and co. Will show. Just a rumour at this point."
So there you have it. I've heard the rumor from several places already, so pretending it's not out there isn't doing anyone any favors, either.
i received that same piece of information by actually talking to mike. sounds like you did too (via email). i chose to keep the info to myself -- you get paid to disseminate it. you are definitely doing the public a favor, just not me (b/c now more people will show up); so i would not change your formula if i were you (sounds like you won't). something i earned has depreciated in value -- you disagree i'm sure.
I wish I was cool enough to earn the right to see music and buy records.
@ Ashley -- you are cool (you get paid for it by the scene)
@ BH -- don't hate, diff town, same shit.
is it gonna make you mad that i think i'm old school for discoverin shit w/out the internet?
That you earned by being a suck-up
Yawn
I bet Mike will be happy to have more people coming in to spend $
"by being a suck-up"
oops, I meant "by being a really kewl dood"
I guess in hindsight that BJ you gave Grimey wasn't worth it's current depreciated value.
It ain't the same everywhere else.
haha all those against earning and all this brouhaha stop by the Groove woooooooot
Also -- we love grimeys folks. come to both. long day ahead.
Good grief. The whole point of these events is to have, like, popular bands playing, so that people will want to come see them. No reason to keep it "secret," unless the store owners requested it for some reason.
If you don't like going to concerts that have a lot of people at them (not judging here; I sort of hate crowded shows myself), maybe you could devote a bit less attention to "celebrities," & get more excited about lesser-known bands? People in this town be creamin' their jeans over "indie superstars," & meanwhile there are a lot of great local bands who don't get enough love.
you're exposing rumors for profit at the expsense of the show's quality. i have a small issue w/ the ethics.
Isn't the whole point of tomorrow for local independent record stores to profit from our dolla dolla billz?
"you're exposing rumors for profit at the expsense of the show's quality. i have a small issue w/ the ethics."
The show's quality, fucking hilarious. Who do you think is profiting? Steve? How about: the guy who is organizing the fucking show to get customers to support his record shop (and all independent record shops, bless his grimey heart).
If you want a lapdance from Wayne Coyne, fucking PAY the man.
If you're against people spending money on records or bands trying to have big crowds then stay at home with your computer and record music for yourself.
I personally accept that records are moving toward being free and that all money is in live performance & merchandise but record stores are businesses not non-profit charity organizations.
The days of being discovered in Southern California in 1969 are over. It's hard work unless you're settled with performing for your friends and your friends' friends for the rest of your life.
Get your asses out there, see some local music and fuckin relax
