Just a friendly reminder that Man Man and Cursive will be playing Mercy Lounge April 26, and tickets are still available. There was a point in time (Domestica era) when Cursive was all it would have taken to get me out to this one, but I think nowadays I'm a bit more interested to see how Man Man do what they do live.
Above you'll see the brand-new video for Man Man's "Rabbit Habits," which stars SNL's Fred Armisen (formerly a member of Chicago's Trenchmouth. Just FYI). Like so many music videos these days, this one...well, it's hardly a music video. It's basically a very strange short film with the Man Man song tucked in there. Much like Feist's video/film for "The Water," a 15-minute, silent, snowy bit of cinema directed by Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew and starring Cillian Murphy. That one's being hosted by Pitchfork, and you can see it after the jump. But they're pulling it down after just a week, so watch it before April 17.
So what of this trend? Do you like seeing music videos that expand upon the idea of the song, adding new dimensions to something that's supposed to already be fully fleshed-out? Sometimes it works (R. Kelly), and sometimes it doesn't (John Rich). Or would you rather just see some neat or funny visuals while you listen to a song you enjoy? Check out "The Water" after the jump. That is, if you have 15 minutes to spare.
