New Mike Judge Feature Features The Features

Posted by D. Patrick Rodgers on Thu, Apr 9, 2009 at 10:32 AM

The news of a forthcoming Mike Judge film alone was enough to pique my interest. Not only am I a King of the Hill/Office Space fan (who isn't?); I'm also quite intrigued that Extract features performances from Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, J.K. Simmons, Mila Kunis and a bearded, stoner version of Ben "Gigli" Affleck. But there's more to it than that. Click play on the old cliperoo up there and you'll hear "Whatever Gets You By" from The Features' Some Kind of Salvation. Playing Bonnaroo, having their epic message board resurrected and being featured in a film that looks genuinely hilarious. The Features are back on top, baby.

Props of course go to We Own This Town for the find. Good lookin' out, WOTT.

Wow, a Mike Judge movie that might actually play in theaters! For such a beloved director, he's really gotten the shaft since Beavis & Butthead Do America.

This looks pretty funny. Hopefully it won't meet the same fate as Idiocracy.

Idiocracy RULED. I don't care what anyone says. Practically everyone I know save for one or two folks loved that movie and were equally creeped out as much as they were amused by the fact that it's a little TOO close to present day reality. Can't wait for this new film and super stoked the Features are... featured. Mike Judge, I believe, has a razor sharp perspective on modern, American, consumer culture. Always has... Beavis and Butthead still holds up, even though it was thoroughly over played by MTV.
