12th & Porter Wants to Be Your Favorite Nashville Venue

Sure, local venue 12th & Porter went through some tough times--even getting shut down at one point--but those are in the past, and the new ownership has made a lot of upgrades (the most noticeable of which being the 12 billion candle power Close Encounters UFO in your face lighting rig).

But what they really want is to be your fave venue. They've got a brief survey for you to take, if you're into that kind of thing and want to tell them the way to your heart. (That's my limo pictured, btw. My driver's name is Jeeves--he lost his job in the Bay Area after the Internet bubble burst.)

I reckon that 12th + P is a sweet venue.. but the production cost is RE-DICK. if they were to lower that badboy, they might get more bands in there. the Fire In The Sky lighting rig would take longer to pay off.. but maybe you'd have more bands willing to play/more shows/making your venue more popular/making you more $

I clicked the link to take the survey. It opened a new window that said "Thanks for taking our survey." That was easy!

Hey Steve, that survey is hardcoded just for your email address, so once you've taken it, it can't be taken again. People can take the survey for themselves online if they go here:

Let me know if that doesn't work!

Thanks, Delaney.
Actually, though, I never got a chance to take the survey--I got the same "Thanks" message even though I never filled it out. I suspect it's coded to only allow one survey per I.P. address? (That would explain why simple mike got the thank you without ever taking it, too.)
Meanwhile, I updated the link in the entry.

I like 12th & Porter, but man is the parking awful. And I don't feel comfortable parking past that bridge on the street. If that were sorted out, I would be much more likely to go there more than once a year.

P.S. 12th and Porter only charges $200 for both sound and lights for nightly shows. It's actually much less than most comparable venues.

They're gonna have to get the production cost down on smaller gigs. The booking is another matter but, I'm sure they'd have more choice nights coming their way if bands were not wary of that figure. I have to say I really miss the old 12th n porter/restaurant. I have had some pretty sentimental times there when I first moved back to TN. I hope the new folks can make it work.

That's just fine for the industry showcase shlock that routinely books the main room. But your average up-and-coming Nashville band doesn't have $200 to shell out in the first place. Nobody asked for that monstrosity and nobody really wants to help pay for it either. You priced yourselves right out of the local market.

I backed up some friends recently in the lounge and had a pleasant evening, except for the 5 bands that were playing in the main room decided to load their gear in and out right in front of the little stage despite a capacity crowd in the lounge and far less than that in the main venue.

"you priced yourself right out of the local market"
-I dunno, their calendar seems pretty full!
"smaller gigs" ??? If you can't bring out 20 people to pay for the $200 production that covers sound guy and a door guy, that's probably the real reason your not playing 12th & Porter.
They seem to be packed every night anyways... and I guess business is good if they can afford all of the upgrades?!
When did parking become a problem at 12th? Open your eyes. I party there all the time!
