As far as rock 'n' roll goes, tonight looks to be a relatively slow one for those of us in Music City. Who sucked out the feeling? Those bastards in Austin. That's who. I'll be at the bar. Here's some stuff:
A.C. Newman w/The Broken West at Mercy Lounge. The man of Superconductor/New Pornographers fame brings his red-haired, befreckled power-pop to Nashville. Dustin Allen thinks Newman's stuff is "genius."
Spat! Records Night at The End feat. Dharmakaya, Pussy Sisster, The Sediment, Devils Blood, DJs Toxxic Blvd. & Dick 'N' Blender. I mainly just wanted to list that one for the band names.
The Cooling System w/The Station, DJ Wick-It, The Dynamites & Paradise Daze at 12th & Porter.
The Mothership: A Led Zeppelin Tribute at 3rd & Lindsley. As you'll see in this video, the band is actually pretty tight. Even though the lead singer kinda has a Mark Wahlburg-in-Rock Star thing going on.
You've also got Bobby Osborne and the Rocky Top X-Press at Station Inn and Southern Excursion Quartet's CD Release at W.O. Smith School of Music. Like I said, not a whole lot going down this evening. Tonight might be a good night to open up Garage Band and track that demo you've been meaning work on. By this time next year, maybe you'll be in Austin. Probably not. Let us know what we missed. Happy Saturday.
