As great as it is sitting in a cubicle all day while you know a bunch of your friends and coworkers are day-drinking in the streets of Austin, I've got to say I'm pretty ready for the weekend. Needless to say, SXSW has left our options a bit thinner than usual. However, there's still an intriguing batch of shows transpiring. Check:
Kraak & Smaak at Exit/In. I gleaned from Maloney's pick that their "soulful blend of house and breaks" is pretty good, and also that The Netherlands has a good baseball team.
Call it Anything w/AncientOcean & 247's Group at The 5 Spot. I've yet to see 247 with his group, but he is definitely pretty dope solo, so I'm certain it's worth checking out. He's one of those rappers who, you know, actually knows a lot of words.
Josh Williams Band at Station Inn. Williams used to play with Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, but now he does his own thing.
Mashville feat. DJs Bateman, N.O.B.O.T.S., Orig, Local Motion, Wick-It, the Instigator & Kidsmeal at Mercy Lounge. The Spin will be there...or will we?
Millionaire Magicians w/Altered Statesman & The Carter Administration at Family Wash. Whoa, right? Talk about a bitchin' East Side show at an unexpected venue.
Jil Aigrot (the woman who played the voice of Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose) is also performing at Blair School of Music's Ingram Hall. Put on a tie and check that epic shit out. Well, I personally can't wait for CreamMaster Haruch to get back. Not that proofreading Gold's vitriol isn't awesome. Have a good weekend. We'll be back tomorrow with Saturday's hotness.
