You might remember YouTube user tinycorkscrew from this post a few months back. He or she is the one who did us the saintly deed of posting rare videos of Brainiac performing at Lucy's Record Shop in 1991. Today (s)he posted videos of local indie rawkers--and I mean indie in the Touch & Go sense of the word--Ocelots. The videos were taped Monday at Springwater, where the band played with Dischord Records' Medications. I was unable to go to this show, but I was told that Medications were mind-blowing. Perhaps tinycorkscrew will upload videos of their set in the days to come.
In the meantime, enjoy the video above of Ocelots' "This Elephant's Not Thirsty, It's on Fire." I like this band a lot. Going to see them is like taking a trip to Chicago in a time machine set to 1993. They're an underappreciated force in our local bailiwick of rock. Certainly if you, like me, are a fan of bands like Slint, Silkworm, Seam, Shellac, Sebadoh or any other bands that would fit into the "Jeopardy" category "American independent rock duos or groups starting with the letter S," then you owe it to yourself to catch their next show, which is on May 15 w/And the Relatives and Chrome Robes (appropriately from Chicago). Also, don't forget to bookmark tinycorkscrew's YouTube page.

Hmm. We do need some sounds like that up in our bailiwick.
Mr. Gold,
Unfortunately tinycorkscrew was not able to stay for Medications.
Does anyone know who tinycorkscrew is?? was he in the old band the tiny corkscrews??
that was a pretty cool, albeit short-lived band.
Don't think tinycorkscrew was in that band, didn't see any of those guys at Ocelots. Saw them at lucya a few times back in the day, good band.
Mr. Gold,
While tinycorkscrew was not able to stay, Ocelots guitarist, Chris Hargrow, taped Medications & Edie Sedgwick and they will be appearing on his show "Optic Audio" in the following weeks. O/A comes on Tuesday nights at 11:00 on channel 19.
