Last time we heard from Lone Official, they were releasing a 7-inch split with Altered Statesman. Lone Official are responsible for a record called Tuckasee Take, an album which, to quote myself, "was one of the most noteworthy local efforts in the past five years...and frontman Matt Button's conversational inflection and thoughtful lyrics bear more than a passing resemblance to Jim O'Rourke and Stephen Malkmus." Yes, I just quoted myself.
LO plays all-too-rarely, but they'll be performing Saturday, March 7 at Springwater with Dynamite Operators, Bad Friend, Taiwan Deth & Ladyland in Flames. Here's what Steve Poulton (the Altered Statesman himself) has to say about Ladyland:
This event also marks the debut of Ladyland In Flames, a Nashville psych supergroup of sorts including Paul Booker, Jose Lovato, Herb 'Joyride' Jones, Aaron Fletcher, Derek Schartung and yours fucking truly. Suck on that, y'all.
Awesome. I'm highly intrigued by the concept of Poulton contributing to a psych group, especially one of the super variety. But also: LONE OFFICIAL. This is the coolest band you'll likely see all week. If you've never caught their video for "Le Coq Sportif," give it a watch. It features That '70s Show-style panning shots, speakers engulfed in flames, what appears to be a sporty game of 500 and a member of Admirals Club on a StairMaster.
