Grimey Gets Iggy With It at The Basement

Posted by Sean Maloney on Tue, Mar 3, 2009 at 2:05 PM

Is there anything more adorable than record nerds in love? I can't think of anything off hand, but if you have any doubt that platter pushers make the most romantic gestures just watch this video. Basement honcho and proprietor of "one of the world's best independent record shops" Mike Grimes dedicates a swoon worthy version of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" to his wasn't-then-but-is-now bride, Mindy. It was so sweet my guyliner is running. It's like a Hugh Grant movie if Hugh Grant movies were actually watchable.

Added Bonus: Whoever was behind the soundboard made sure to drench Grimey's vocals in delay. Good lookin out, sound-dude.

I didn't think she was a record nerd, but there's definitely some guilt by association. Mindy and my wife could start a "We're not record nerds but our husbands are" club...or not. It's still a pretty rad Stooges cover, though.

mike and mindy are definitely rad. after they were pronounced husband and wife this weekend they flew the scene to the theme of Star Wars. People were crying. Guess they are nerds after all.

That's a REALLY nerdy thing to do at a wedding. I totally wish I had thought of it...

Mindy wasn't a record nerd when Mike found her but she's a quick study. As a record nerd myself I can definitely say that if she is, at the very least, an honorary record nerd. I love her (and Mike) and I admit, I cried at the wedding. It was awesome.
