Hope everyone's Friday evening was a pleasant one and that no one encountered any shady characters looking for trouble. Here's a smattering of happenin' happenings for Saturday:
Motley Crue w/Hinder, The Last Vegas & Theory of a Dead Man at the Sommet Center. I certainly don't find it necessary to figure out how to type an umlaut just for the Crue. Now, I assumed Hinder was god-awful, but I didn't know until recently just how awful. "I really miss your hair in my face / and the way your innocence tastes." Wow. Well, this kid seems to like it. So charismatic.
Tigers Con Queso w/Betty Rats, We Were the States & Country Death at Springwater. That, friends, is what they call a nice, round bill.
Marah w/Molly Thomas at The Basement. Take it from Jim Ridley: You don't want to end up missing this one in favor of "watching Ice Road Truckers reruns like someone waiting for a nurse to spoon-feed him Jell-O."
Old Black Kettle 1-Year Reunion Show at Station Inn. OBK makes some genuine, homespun bluegrass, and they're back with us for one night only.
Broken Frame w/Scratch Track & Beitthemeans at 12th & Porter.
Gunslinger w/Jenny Wood, This Is Art & CIA at The End.
There's also a battle of the bands at RCKTWN and this thing that may or may not be happening at some place that I'm not at liberty to mention. That'll make more sense later. I think I've said too much already. Well, everyone enjoy your weekend and keep it safe. The comment section is the place for corrections, recommendations and complaints about the cowboy. Transmission concluded.

i heard about that thing that may or may not be happening...i hope it does. i hope it does.
is it that place in the east with the bands from the past? I've heard a few things about that as well. I was there last night, they said it was happening
yes... Styx is playing The French Quarter. well done.
I would like to personally invite you to The End tonight. Gunslinger and Jenny Wood have been out on tour for the last 2 and a half weeks and we are having a homecoming finale tonight. Gunslinger (now a trio) has become Jenny Wood's backing band, so every night on tour we have been playing a combined set where we trade off between Jenny's dark, melodic, vocal based material and Gunslinger's hard driving instrumental songs in a normal 45 minute set. I'm very excited to show our Nashville friends what we have created on tour. If you have ever seen Gunslinger in the past, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how we've grown. My experimental hip hopish project, This Is Art, closes. We also have a new record for Jenny Wood that we recorded at The Bomb Shelter before we left available at the show. I hope you can make it. This should be a good one.
love,
Miles
i heard that shit is not happening from three fairly good sources... but i still hope it does.
Drove by that place around midnight, and if that thing happened, it had already happened. Marah even made a joke about it onstage at The Basement.
bullshit. people need to stop spreading rumors i this town. what a waste of fucking time
Too bad if you missed the Marah show, which was all white light white heat. Dudes played like they were rocking an arena.
Dave Bielanko: "Hey, turn up the sound! The PA, everything! This isn't a Pavement show!"
My people tell me that it ended up happening in Bellevue. Sorry to be so secretive about getting the word out until it was too late for most of you. Word is that 17 people had an AMAZING night though!
Okay, the night's over. Go ahead and tell everyone what it was.
Like since when does the night end just cuz the sun rises? Twitter my facebook and I'll clue you in, Uh Huh
IS PAVEMENT GOING TO PLAY!?!?! ARE SILVER JEWS OPENING!?!?
fuck you guys.
What happened is that about 200 strangers showed up for a wedding party that it felt like we shouldn't have been at, and the folks who came to check out Tim, Chad & Sherry were probably very confused and annoyed.
200 people paid to get into a wedding party they probably shouldn't have been at.
regardless. it was fun as hell. we all got to see members of pavement and silver jews cover 70s soul and funk covers. thats worth 5 bux to me
Thank you indie rock fans for making last night the best turn out ever for a Tim Chad show!
it was great. i never felt like i shouldn't have been there. i probably won't have my rececption open to the public, but i'm no Bob N.
