Tenacious D frontman and School of Rock star Jack Black married into a pretty impressive musical pedigree--not like he really needed the help--when he wed singer Tanya Haden. Haden is one of the triplet daughters of legendary jazz bassist Charlie Haden--best known for his work with Ornette Coleman. Her sisters Petra and Rachel were both in underappreciated '90s alt-pop band That Dog. Petra also plays in the Decemberists and Rachel is a founding member of The Rentals. Collectively, the sisters have also backed up artist as wide-ranging as Beck, Jimmy Eat World and Todd Rundgren. Last year, the entire family, under the moniker Charlie Haden Family & Friends, collaborated on the American roots endeavor Rambling Boy. The record also features appearances by Elvis Costello (never one to miss an opportunity for a collaboration), Vince Gill, Pat Metheny, Bruce Hornsby and Rosanne Cash. The Haden posse, J.B. in tow, will be appearing at the final Opry at the Ryman show of the season on Feb. 28. With his father in-law in the house I wouldn't expect to hear the funny man play "Fuck Her Gently" on the saxaboom or anything like that. In fact, I really don't know if anything "funny" is actually going to happen, but you know...maybe. Either way, if you've yet to catch an Opry show before, but have long considered it, then this might be the one to see. Ricky Skaggs (also a guest on Rambling Boy), Del McCoury, Bill Anderson, Jean Shepard, Connie Smith, Hal Ketchum & The Infamous Stringdusters will also be appearing.
