For the record: On the day they taught "fuckin' around" in school, Justin Kase was cuttin' class. That dude wouldn't know how to fuck around if you asked him. In the course of an evening filled with off-the-hook tunes and killer crowd response, Kase was definitely the crowd favorite with more bodies in the big room and more hands-in-the-air audience freakout moments than any of the other performers. Justin really puts it down for this town, so we shouldn't have been surprised--but we were, and it ruled.

Now that we think about it, Leon from Ultimo, the promoter behind the evening's entertainment, was probably skipping school that day as well. Sure, he brings top notch talent to a town desperate for quality electronic music, but it's the vibe that he cultivates that's really astounding. Sure the kids have their glowsticks and their funny pants (that's unavoidable), but Ultimo parties are classy enough that lecherous old Spinsters can still get all P.L.U.R. and shit with our vodka-and-cranberries and day jobs.

Hell, we were feeling the peace-love-understanding-respect vibe so hard that we didn't even get mad when a member of the County & Plateau crowd barfed all over our leg. Kneecap to ankle covered in stomach acid and pulled pork, and it didn't faze us--we were in that good of a mood. (A big shout out goes to the 12th & Porter bar staff, who were super-pro and totally quick while cleaning up Ralphy McFuckshit's mess. Your professionalism in handling that noob and his detritus was greatly appreciated.)

Treasure Fingers was everything we had hoped. The Brooklyn/Atlanta filter house wunderkind played late into the night, which totally satisfied the disco jones that has been buggin' us all winter. By the time the house lights came we realized that we had dance so hard for so long in long, long time. All an all it was an great night of music and fun--even if we did smell puke fumes all the way home.

ummm....errrrrnnn (sound of a buzzer) wrong!
Let me fill you in....
TWO FRESH.
Twofreshbeats.com
One of the biggest rising electronic groups EVER to come out of nashville. They already have received a bigger response then almost ALL nashville groups in the 6 months they have been out. They have one of the biggest followings I have personally seen, considering almost every show they have played has sold out....

If he was cutting class when his school taught people to fuck around, doesn't that imply that he ALREADY knew how to fuck around? Otherwise, wouldn't he have obeyed school policy?

The reason you didnt see any nashville dates is because they arent some local little time act. they mainly play festivals and shows out of state .check out their website. They have played with pnuma trio, pretty lights, disco biscuits official afterparty, ect....
they are the biggest electronic group from nashville. they just dont play here much cause the scene sucks.

I think he means "biggest electronic group that play with hippies at venues of no naotable size or stature." I think. They do manage to make "A Milli" sound like a bad Icey b-side though. That must of taken some effort.

man, i'm not even touching that one. i tried to be nice. it think it's pretty hilarious that you call yourself the largest electronic group from nashville when no one i know in any city has even heard of you. keep swinging your "i played with pretty lights" cock. i didn't even realize that pretty lights or the other two bands were important enough to flex on.

I would hardly say the scene here sucks. We have a healthy electro scene (Friday night would be a good indication).
Ultimo has brought in some of the biggest acts in dance music over the recent years: Sasha & Digweed, Paul van Dyk, Mstrkrft, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Felix Cartel etc etc etc.
The smaller crews like Berlin have brought countless minimal/techno DJs. The King Funk crew has brought in DJs like Roy Davis JR, Stacey Kidd, Justin Long etc etc etc.
Kase and crew have continuously kept the scene alive. And yet nobody in Nashville has heard of Two Fresh.
I’m guessing you’ve never heard of Terry Grant, RTHM, Joey Modus, Venus Hum, Jensen Sportag, Plural Z?
Get educated about the Nashville scene before you make yourself look like a bigger fool..

Pnuma trio sucks. Disco biscuits suck (except that one time they covered that Pink Floyd song at Exit In but it was a momentary lapse of suckitide.)
Tons of amazing awesome electronic shit here!

As a cranky music critic that pretty much hates everything, I have to say that scene here definitely does not suck. I might not be into every event that rolls through town (I, for instance can't stand trance and have a lot of trouble getting excited enough to drive to the eastside for minimal techno), but there is always something happening and it's usually top-notch for it's given genre. You might want to take your lips off the nitrous tank for a minute and find out what's really happening around here, headstash.

justin case im not even in the group im just an apart of the music scene and calling it as i see it. i wasnt trying to offend you man, seriously. Im sure your real popular here, i bet its an accomplishment to see 100 people at your show (haha) it probably does suck seeing two 19 year olds show you up. Your a local dj, fuck off. look at your views and plays on myspace compared to theirs. as far as making myself look like a dumbass? just callin it how it is. you are tito they are michael. fuck off you small league dj. so what if you dont like the groups they open for DO YOU GET ASKED TO OPEN FOR ANY BIG GROUPS? do people outside nashville know who you are? No, and you need some work. i wasnt even tryin to be mean I was just amazed no one had heard of them. but this is bullshit, i just voiced my opinion and get shot down, fuck you.
everyone else fuck off.

@headstash.
i agree with cakes.
The scene here is unique and very good compared to other cities.
As for the twofreshbeats jam band bullshit ...
There is a reason everyone on this list has no clue what twofreshbeats are. There is a reason you think the local scene sucks....because you are comparing national to local.
The local scene is actually great and will continue to do well without twofreshbeats. I wish them best on a jam band festival.

two fresh is far from jam band. they do mashups, dub step, a whole lot of shit. im sorry to offend the local scene or whatever. my bad. why is the big act always bullshit? like people hatin' on meemaw and turbo fruits constantly. they have played here, mercy lounge, and sold that bitch out. I don't even have to ask to already know none of the other local electronics groups have done that.
and by the way dumbass
jamband: phish, tribe, greatful dead.
electronic: eliot lip, justice, big gigantic, pnuma, mstrkrft
if you think twofresh is jam band you should actually listen to them. far from it.
you shouldn't wish them well on a jam band festival, you should wish them well because people (not just their nashville buddies) love, embrace, and follow their music. Im sorry i said they were bigger than justinwhatever, its just a fact. i guess the scene doesnt suck the acts just aren't good enough to make it pass davidson county. no offense.
enlighten me though, post some links to some good dance groups from here man. i have an open mind.
do you guys get your buddies to defend your bands or something? hahah its not that serious

lol no worries. no one is offended.
who showed me up and when? why are you just assuming i haven't done anything or gone anywhere? you have no idea who i am and it's pretty obvious. if you're not in the band i feel sorry for twofresh. aside from the music not being my thing, you just made them look like a couple of assholes.
btw "dumbass", it says "jam band" in their genre listings.
thank you for the lols. xo

Also, their booking guys email address is "gamehendge02@yahoo.com". If I'm not mistaken gratuitous Phish references are usually a good sign that you're running with the hacky sack and head lice crowd.

What is it you are trying to accomplish here headstash?
Perhaps if you had phrased your original comment a little differently (i.e. hey guys, please check out TwoFresh, they're awesome!) instead of insulting the local scene and insinuating that TwoFresh is on some kind of higher plane than us little local artists, then you would have been recieved more amicably.
With an attitude like the one you've taken, of course you're gonna get hated on, and so are they. Which is sad because they didn't ask for this negative attention and they themselves might take offense to your actions. I know I do.
As far as this awesome tour you've posted above, I have quite a bit of experience on that circuit, and as we suspected all along it is indeed Deep Hippy Territory, rife with drugged out rich kids, their expensive instruments and horrible taste. I can assure any of you unexperienced cream readers that you're not missing much there. I'd rather take a room full of annoying tight-pants-hipsters than that hippy bullshit ANY DAY.

Jensen Sportag - Mapquest
this song here is my closing argument for Jensen Sportag as the best electronic music coming from Nashville. Their live show is not great but one of the guys told me once that they hate playing live and would not tour unless conditions were optimal. However they are playing tonight at Mercy Lounge! weird. They make unique and innovative music unlike the decades-dated trip hop bullshit that 2fresh does. If 2fresh are more popular it's simply due to the fact people lacking in good taste and intellectual curiosity far outnumber those who have it. They should do fine.

ill stop raining on your parade. i just want a fuckin article about something that is big and opening doors for groups like justinkase and jensen sportag not something that "about to be there". dont hate the group cause me, i just am a young loudmouth fuck. sorry to spit on your favorite sweater.

No parades, no sweaters. I don't know Justin and am in no way connected to him. (Though I am a fan of jensen sportag, never met them either).
I just saw a steaming pile of bullshit and called you on it. But you're right about one thing, you are a loudmouth fuck.
Don't hold your breath for that article.

hey yall all this on the internet is ridiculous, jensen i hoped to work with you in the future. Were not claiming to be the best act in nashville cus were not, were just doing our thing and hoping that our fans enjoy the show. No reason for any shit talking about us or anyone else. The jamband thing is for myspace ranking, we produce hip hop beats and electronic music. Were just getting more stats or rankings in tennessee in different genres.
Holla and stay humble people
