Guess who was hanging out at the Gold Rush two nights ago. Me--I was. Somewhat less importantly, so was Mike Mills from R.E.M. Now, I don't have any photographic evidence of this because firstly, I don't carry around a camera everywhere I go, and secondly, I didn't recognize him. I wasn't told who he was until after he left.
Mills was hanging out with Bruce Fitzpatrick, the guy who runs The End. If you recall from Tracy's cover story a couple years ago, Bruce was also responsible for R.E.M.'s first Nashville show. According to my sources, Mills stuck Fitzpatrick with the tab.
How does it feel to get scooped, Heather Byrd?

Crap! How did I miss that one?!?!? Cream, you know I love you. How about we just work together from here on out?
Mike Mills is perhaps my second favorite bass player of all time, right behind James Jamerson (Motown) and just ahead of Colin Moulding (XTC). He is, however, my favorite background vocalist of all time.
Wow... this is so totally gossipy OMG! Some fellow Athenians were playing across the street. Was the cream there? It was the best Vic Chestnutt show I've seen yet. Kurt Wagner and Mary Mancini were there. Just doing my part to represent the local celebs. Btw, Mary's Liberadio show had a piece picked up by a couple national outlets. It was a thing on Rep Cooper voting against the stimulus bill.
"Boys, I LOST money tonight." -Bruce "from the End" Fitzpatrick
I'm pretty sure the Liberadio piece got a mention on Pith.
It did:

Mike Mills is OK, but he's no Rose Marshack.
