It's Tuesday night, Nashville. Vic Chesnutt and Elf Power join forces tonight at Exit/In. Yes, Chesnutt is the guy who plays Terence in Sling Blade, and, yes, Elf Power is the Athens Elephant 6 power-pop band that flies under the name The Amorphous Strums when they're backing up Chesnutt, as they do on his latest album, the excellent Dark Developments. It's the old backing band as opening band trick and should be a good time. Elf Power will forever be The Band That Opened for Neutral Milk Hotel That One Time I Actually Got to See Them and It Was Totally Awesome.* Therefore, they can do no wrong in my book. Meanwhile, Ghostfinger play across the street at The End, and Destroy x 3 play the Muse. * R.I.P. Lounge Ax.

Yeah... the turn out sucked but, my god, what a great show! That had to have been the best Vic Chestnutt set I've ever seen. The songs on the new Elf Power/Chestnutt colab are some of his best in a while. Shame people missed out on it.
