It's true. The Seattle (by way of Bellingham) indie popsters Death Cab for Cutie will play the Ryman on Monday, May 4.

Who will warm up the unwarm-uppable Nashville crowd on this spring night, for this show that begins at 7:30 p.m., you ask? Why, that would be Ra Ra Riot--who landed at Exit/In not so long ago--and Matt Costa. Other (speculative, rhetorical) questions: Will Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel be married by then? And will she make a cameo? I just don't know (though her turn on M. Ward's new record is a good'n).

Tickets are $32 and go on sale this Friday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. (Ryman ticket office and Ticketmaster.)

Complete indie cred drain for mention of that couple.

Thank god for being able to see this band in a place that isn't Rocketown (I'm sorry, "RCKTWN") for a change.

As a native Washingtonian from outside of Seattle, I applaud you for pointing out that DCFC actually was formed in Bellingham and not Seattle.

Thoughts on The Ryman:
Last time I checked, Zanies was still open off 8th Ave. Please send all comedians to Zanies, there is NO NEED to waste perfectly good dates with comedians at The Ryman.
Secondly, $32 for 3 bands is a mighty good deal...but Rickey Smiley, a comedian is commanding $47 per ticket? Unless this guy brings a 20-piece orchestra, I think you might be asking a little much per ticket.
When will you book some real shows? I saw where a new GM was named last year, but the only big show so far has been The Jonas Bros. When did The Ryman become a second tier venue? In late 2007 we had WSP (3 nights), Bob Dylan and OCMS all within 2 weeks. The way I see it, Sommet Center is now the best venue in town...not because of sound or production, but they HAVE CONCERTS.
Signed,
People who want to see good shows.

This show has the potential to be great but nobody around of can hear the vocals or instruments. I can talk to the people next to me without screaming. Turn it up!!!
