Earlier today the Cream caught wind of a rumor that HIBTB guitarist Denis Deck has decided to part ways with the band. We followed up with the man himself, and it is with heavy hearts that we confirm the rumor as true.
In a brief telephone conversation, Denis told Cream that the split is amicable and that he is proud of the four years he has put into the band. He also made it clear that the band isn't breaking up and that he will play all forthcoming dates until a replacement is secured. We will update you as this story unfolds.
Update: The Cream has now spoken with HIBTB singer Jon Burr who also confirmed that "unfortunately Denis is leaving the band" and that his replacement for the time being will be Stories That Live guitarist Russell Hanberry. No shows will be canceled, and the band will be going in to the studio next month. He to stressed that there is no animosity regarding the split and that, in fact, they are going to see The Wrestler tonight.

Oh, the horror! The Cream has found out!
While you're at it, I reckon you should redact former bassist Jack Hughey's face. It's only fair, after all.
The D Bomber will be missed, but Rusty Hanberry will do the chores until we find another guitarist/singer/dancer who shares a love for ELO, ABBA, and Magic: the Gathering like ol' Mssr. Deck.
And then there were four,
Jon Burr
He probably got tired of being in the most overrated band in Nashville. I sure can't blame the guy....
Getting married and owning a house (maybe there's a little one on the way???) will do this to a man....
case in point: chris slack got engaged, bought a house, and left Slack all in a month or so. Then of course, he lost his mind. Keep it together Denis!!
i'll be amazed if i see a movie as good as The Wrestler all year.these boys seem like they're carrying on in the right direction.
and also, at the risk of paraphrasing chuck klosterman, it seems the only people who have a problem with "overrated" bands are the people who aren't in them.
frankly, i think underrated bands are overrated. ironically, underrated bands are just allegedly great bands who haven't gotten rich doing what they're doing - or at least not selling out shows yet.
i've been in properly rated bands all my life and i'm perfectly content with that.
We, The Protomen, understand that the loss of an integral member of the band can be a stressful obstacle to overcome....
That is why The Protomen cordially invite Mssr. Deck to replace our recently deceased drummer, Demon Barber. Provided of course that he also completes The Betty Ford clinic's Magic The Gathering 12 week program, courtesy of Sound Machine Records.
(Sound Machine Records would also like to comment that The Protomen do not, in any way, condone outward displays of nerdery. Mssr. Deck should be aware, however, that he will be required to outfit himself with proper tough black western attire and fanciful silver face paint.)
It is now that we, The Protomen, would like to extend our condolences to The Bomb on the world stage (The Cream). Our hearts go out to you, in this time of need.
Stand strong,
-The Protomen
"it seems the only people who have a problem with "overrated" bands are the people who aren't in them."
No shit. Why would you play in your own band if you thought your music was overrated?
