It's been a while since we heard from Cortney Tidwell--who, last we saw her, was covering a JEFF song at this blog's birthday party. (Sure, she opened some Silver Jews shows, but not where we could see her.) Yesterday, Tidwell dropped some pretty big news, telling Cream via email a little bit about her new album, new record label and a duet with that hairy fellow from My Morning Jacket:
i am leaving k7 and i'm about to sign with the renowned independent label City Slang Records in Europe, who [will] release the album at the end of May, and am currently working towards a US release of the album later on in the year. more details will follow soon, but the album is being mastered at the end of the month and people will be able to hear new music in the not too distant future. (the new record features a duet with jim james yay!)
Tidwell says she's "very excited" about the new record and will be touring again soon. Very cool. We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out City Slang (European home to Porkchop Lambchop) and Cortney Tidwell on MySpace.
