If Cowboy Jack Clement ever needed to apply for a job, at least in this economy, his prospective employer would probably lean back in her Herman Miller chair, rub her chin amusedly, and say, "Mister, I don't know what to tell you. You're just overqualified."

He produced Jerry Lee Lewis' first Sun Records hits, brought out the best in his buddy Johnny Cash, convinced Chet Atkins to sign Charley Pride and produced Waylon Jennings' landmark album Dreamin' My Dreams.

With a recent health scare behind him, Clement continues to turn life into a stage, embracing whimsy and melodic musicality like sweet waltz partners. His infrequent performances breezily spin melodic pre-war standards, classic rock rave-ups and openhearted country truths while providing an antidote to the calculation and cynicism that saps the joy from most modern music.
Speaking of sapping the joy from modern music, Destroy Destroy Destroy release/unleash/projectile vomit their CD, Battle Sluts, at Exit/In, or the continuation of 666 week at Mercy Lounge, what with the Space Capone and the Kyle Andrews and the Heypenny and the whatnot.
