Hey Nashville, it's Wednesday. Or, as they're calling it over at The Basement, Crazy Bitch Night. The crazy bitches in question are Tonya Watts, Greta Gaines and Stacie Collins. Now, these three crazy bitches will play their songs like a bunch of crazy, crazy bitches starting at 9 p.m. So if you want to "make this Wednesday your bitch," then go check these crazy bitches out.
I guess it's better than "chick singer night," or "chicks with picks." Barf.
Now, I was kind of down on the name "Crazy Bitch Night" at first, because it struck me as sort of retrograde, and I didn't think it really served the purpose of reclaiming the b-word as a signifier of independent-minded feminine power. (And let's just say that when I did a Google image search for "crazy bitches," I got a lot of results that, uh, are not appropriate for this blog.) However, there is a refreshing directness to it--and it made me think that perhaps other venues and performers should start honestly-titled theme nights, too.
Here are a few ideas, based on some of my Nashville show-going experiences.

Damn, Steve. I've been to everyone of those nights at least twice, but I couldn't find the words quite like you did. I think my least favorite nights are the "Retarded Redneck Queens of the Stone Age Wannabe Night" and "Insufferable Self-Absorbed Douchebag Night." I will say though, "Don't Quite Get It Night" can be very entertaining. Good work.
i think this is my favorite cream post ever. nice shot of the nashville night life.
takes me back to the days of flat tops and rat tails sippin on royal crown playing mortal combat and jammin out to informer by snow.... or ugly kid joe. and reebok pumps....
