Well, if the words "human snow globe" aren't enough to get you over to The Basement tonight to see, well, the Human Snow Globe, a.k.a. a man named J.J. Jones inside a snow globe performing "The 12 Minutes of Christmas," then here's the estimable Bruce Barry's take on the spectacle as performed around this time last year:

His plastic orb encased rendition of The Christmas Song ("Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire") conjured up a bizarro cross between Bing Crosby in the womb wearing a ratty overcoat and the Seinfeld bubble boy episode.

If that's not enough encouragement, Warren Pash, David Mead and others will be adding to the merriment, which gets underway around 9 p.m.

Elsewhere in town, Vovo, the project of The Features' Mark Bond, give the evening a poppy twirl over at Edgehill Studios, where they'll be joined by The Nobility, commencing at 8 p.m.

And the O.G. himself, Charlie Louvin, celebrates the release of his murder ballads and disaster songs collection at 3rd and Lindsley. That show's at 9:30 p.m., at which time King's X will be holding court at Mercy Lounge.
