Just a few months ago, I nearly constructed a blog post here about a record shop I'd just learned of hiding itself downtown. I hadn't previously heard a thing about the place. Thwarted by my own laziness, I never wrote that post, and to this day I still haven't stepped foot inside Xcessive Records--if only because I avoid downtown Nashville like the plague.
Well, blame it on the economy, iTunes or the inevitable crunch of running a goth-metal-industrial niche record shop while paying Second Avenue rent, but this particular ship has sailed, my friends. Xcessive is closing its doors for good on New Year's Eve. However, in the meantime, the shop promises some pretty killer deals with used vinyl and lots of CDs marked down to $1, posters sold at cost and discounts on books as well. Check out their Myspace page for store hours and days they'll be open.
