Plastic Fantastic: Bitchin' Video Promotes Warren Pash Album and Nov. 1 Show

Posted by on Thu, Oct 23, 2008 at 11:35 AM

East Nashville luminary Warren Pash—the guy everyone points to while whispering into their friends' ears, "That's the dude who wrote Hall & Oates' 'Private Eyes'!"—has just released the above video to promote his new album Plastic Rulers (which is also the name of his band).

The video is a hilarious throwback to the days of low-def TV rock-band infomercials, decades before the DVD ruled the land. Complete with VHS tape distortion, the spot blends K-tel cheese factor with zany (!) Monkees-style shenanigans. But despite the tomfoolery, the music kicks ass—a dose of bright, shiny pop with echoes of Big Star, early Who and the Stones.

Pash will play a stripped-down set and spin the new disc at an art opening, 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Tinney Contemporary Gallery, 237 Fifth Ave. N. He'll play a proper CD release bash Nov. 20 at The Basement.
