East Nashville luminary Warren Pash—the guy everyone points to while whispering into their friends' ears, "That's the dude who wrote Hall & Oates' 'Private Eyes'!"—has just released the above video to promote his new album Plastic Rulers (which is also the name of his band).
The video is a hilarious throwback to the days of low-def TV rock-band infomercials, decades before the DVD ruled the land. Complete with VHS tape distortion, the spot blends K-tel cheese factor with zany (!) Monkees-style shenanigans. But despite the tomfoolery, the music kicks ass—a dose of bright, shiny pop with echoes of Big Star, early Who and the Stones.
Pash will play a stripped-down set and spin the new disc at an art opening, 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Tinney Contemporary Gallery, 237 Fifth Ave. N. He'll play a proper CD release bash Nov. 20 at The Basement.

Hahaha sitting on top of the kiddie seat swing. Awesome. I've never ever thought to do that.
I'm SO going to this....Warren is way out, groovy, hip and is fashionably smart...he's the Greg to my Peter Brady - Pancho, Nashville Cream.
LOL @ this video. That is the ugliest fucking sweater I have ever seen.
I totally whispered that very thing in the middle of a tag football game last weekend out at Shelby. It always results in one or more people doing bad, whispery, falsetto versions of 'Private Eyes' for the one or more people who don't know the song the whisperer is whispering about.
I don't give a crap what song he wrote, you DO NOT just walk into a port-a-potty in Shelby Park without knocking. He's lucky I didn't kick his ass.

That was funny. My six-year-old nephew is cracking up over here. Oops. I said crack.
Can't you put aside your vitriol for me for one post so we can get back to praising the brilliance of this video and Warren's new record? In all seriousness, I think this video is funny, but I've heard Warren's new record and -- here's something we can agree on -- it definitely kicks ass. It's been worth the wait.
Yeah, I said ass.
