For those of you who dig your indie rock steeped in new wave influences may want to start polishing up your dancing shoes. Omaha's The Faint are going to party like it's 2003 tonight at the Cannery Ballroom. Opening the show will be what's probably the most appropriate match-up Nashville has to offer right now, The Protomen. It probably won't be as amazing as the time The Faint played the Red Rose, but definitely better than seeing My Epiphany open for them at Exit/In.
If you're still itching to shake off a case of the Mondays after the show (or just didn't have the cash to get in downstairs), the Mercy Lounge presents "Faint off 8th," an official after party where folks like Nite Nite, Justin Kase, Hands Off Sam, DJ Burgers and Paris, Ontario will extend the dance party a little further into the evening.
The action downstairs starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $22. Upstairs starts at 10 p.m. for free.

I know this is unrelated to this post, but have people noticed the Waves On Waves ad that pops up to the right from time to time??
Not to sound sh*tty, but do they not have any quotes and endorsements of their music that don't originate from local rags. I mean, having Music Row magazine or the Nashville Scene (no offense, peoples) recommend you is hardly worth mentioning. especially in this incestuous town where everyone knows/is friends with everyone.
considering that their music is quite mediocre, why even pay to put an ad anywhere? Which reminds me, I saw a waves on waves ad in newsweek, however, minus any endorsements...f'n weird...
Waves, you do sound shitty. these guys are good at what they do and are fortunate enough to have people investing in them. Whether or not any of us like what they do, I must admit that they are a hard working band that is true to themselves and their convictions. They're doing more with themselves than a lot of us will.
